The roots of Incap go back in the history all the way to 1985, when company was registered into trade register with the name Teknoinvest. The company named "Incap" was born in 1992 through the merger of three development companies, Keraspo Oy, Lakespo Oy and Teknoinvest Oy. The name is shortened from the term "Investment Capital" and refers to development companies which had investments in tens of firms operating in several businesses. After Incap was founded, these small companies were reorganised so that at the beginning of 1997 only two companies remained: the electronics contract manufacturer Incap Electronics Oy and the furniture contract manufacturer Incap Furniture Oy.
Incap was listed on the Helsinki Exchanges in spring 1997.
Incap’s current factories have their origin in separate companies. The subsidiaries Elektrostep Oy (presently the Vuokatti factory) and Tilux Oy (presently the Helsinki factory) were merged into Incap Electronics Oy in 1996.
